One of the most extraordinary moments of Rock Hard Festival Greece 2026 will undoubtedly be the return of the legendary Brazilian power metal pioneers ANGRA, who will appear in Athens for a very special anniversary show dedicated to one of the most influential albums in the history of melodic metal.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of their landmark 1996 album “Holy Land”, the band will perform the record in its entirety, alongside a selection of classic songs from across their remarkable career. What makes this event even more historic is the temporary reunion with guitarist Kiko Loureiro, one of the most acclaimed musicians to emerge from the metal scene and a member of MEGADETH for nearly a decade.

The performance at Rock Hard Festival Greece will be one of only two European appearances celebrating the Holy Land anniversary, making this an exceptionally rare opportunity for fans across the continent to witness a truly special chapter in the band’s history.

Formed in 1991 in São Paulo by guitarist Rafael Bittencourt and vocalist Andre Matos, ANGRA quickly established themselves as one of the most distinctive voices in heavy metal. Combining the technical sophistication of European power metal with Brazilian rhythms, orchestration, and classical influences, the band created a sound that stood apart from the genre’s conventions. Their debut album Angels Cry introduced this vision to the world, but it was “Holy Land” that elevated ANGRA to a new artistic level.

Released in 1996, “Holy Land” is widely regarded as the band’s magnum opus and one of the most ambitious records ever produced within the power metal genre. The album explores the discovery of Brazil in the 16th century, blending heavy metal with indigenous and Afro-Brazilian rhythms, orchestral arrangements, choirs, and classical compositions. Produced by renowned metal producers Sascha Paeth and Charlie Bauerfeind, the album achieved major success internationally and remains a milestone for fans of power, progressive, and symphonic metal alike.

In Greece, “Holy Land” holds a particularly special place in the hearts of metal fans. Throughout the 1990s it was one of the most beloved and widely discussed metal albums in the country, regularly featured in magazines, radio shows, and record collections of an entire generation of listeners. The band’s first Greek appearance during the Holy World Tour in May 1997 is still remembered as one of the most electrifying concerts ever held in the country — a night that helped cement ANGRA’s unique bond with the Greek audience.

Nearly three decades later, that connection will be celebrated once again in a way few could have imagined.

For this special anniversary performance, ANGRA will appear with a powerful lineup that includes guitarist and founding member Rafael Bittencourt, virtuoso bassist Felipe Andreoli, dynamic drummer Bruno Valverde, and guitarist Marcelo Barbosa. Joining them behind the microphone will be vocalist Alirio Netto, internationally known for his work with the official QUEEN tribute project QUEEN EXTRAVAGANZA, curated by Roger Taylor of QUEEN.

The show will also carry an emotional dimension, paying tribute to the late Andre Matos, whose voice defined the band’s early era and whose influence continues to resonate deeply within the global metal community.

For Rock Hard Festival Greece, hosting such a rare and historic performance is both an honor and a milestone. For the fans, it will be a once-in-a-generation opportunity to experience one of metal’s most visionary albums exactly as it was meant to be heard: live, powerful, and unforgettable.
